Lovely Elora

Updated: Sep 7, 2021

We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary in Elora. 💗 We didn't have time to explore the town after tubing in July, so we were excited to be back.

Read on for great tips on where we stayed, ate and explored.

We stayed at The Village Inn. It was $110/night for a King Room on Hotels.com. Would have preferred to stay at Elora Mill, but that was a lot more expensive. The room was spacious, with a mini-fridge, microwave and soaker tub (King room)—lots of free parking. Only an 8-10 min walk into Elora.

COVID Precautions: masks were required inside,, and we didn't see many people. Small hotel, only 20 rooms. TripAdvisor Review

HINTS:

1. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel - front rooms face the street.

We stayed in Room 210 at the end, but the back entrance door banged quite loudly when used.

2. Request a 1st-floor room at the back if you want outside access (patio doors & picnic tables)

Where we Ate:

We grabbed a Turkey Apple Brie sandwich from The Elora Cafe. Cute little cafe.

Dinner, the first night, was at the Handsome Devil Bistro:

We had the Berry Margarita & Lavender Lemonade cocktails. And the Fried Chicken Sandwich & Lobster & Crab Roll. All were amazing! Especially the Fries and Fry sauce - YUM!

We saved our dessert for Sugar Skulls. This was a unique experience. They have 70 different flavours of soft-serve ice cream! Choosing just 1 flavour was the hardest part! Jeff was a BIG fan of the unlimited toppings for $1. However, we found the ice cream flavours a bit muted. They have a beautiful patio.

We had a delicious brunch @ Box Social. I had the Berry & Brie French Toast (gluten-free),, and Jeff had the Sundried Tomato & Brie Eggs Benedict.

For our anniversary dinner, we had a lovely evening @ The Friendly Society.

Chef Jeff Rating: Jeff highly recommends ALL the places mentioned above!! 😋

Good things to know: Make a reservation,, so you don't have to wait.

Elora did not disappoint my photographer's eye 📷

Where we Explored:

Victoria Park/Lover's Leap/Elora Gorge Stairs

This park is in the middle of Elora and has amazing views of the Gorge. Make sure yo take the stairs down to the river. You can even zipline across the gorge!

Lover's Leap commemorates a legendary Indian princess who is said to have leapt to her death after her lover was killed in battle.

Just a 5 min walk East of the main bridge is Bissell Park. This is where many events (EloraFest, Shakespeare in the Park, etc.) are held. It has a nice path to walk that connects to a foot bridge over the Grand River. There's a small dam below.

KIPP Elora, a community oven, is also located in this park.

We hope this inspires you to go out and explore. The next blog will be about where we ventured outside of Elora -> the Kissing Bridge, Fergus and the Wellington Butter Tart Trail.

Until next time, Diana & Jeffy #adventureswithDianaandJeff
