Elora pt 2 - Fergus, Butter Tarts & The Kissing Bridge

We hope you had a chance to read the blog about our visit to Elora. If not, click here. If you want details about tubing at Elora Gorge - click here for that blog.

In this blog, we explored Fergus, went to The Kissing Bridge & searched for the BEST Butter Tarts on the Wellington Butter Tart Tour.

Fergus is another pretty town that's only an 8 min drive from Elora.

We walked along the boardwalk the follows the Grand River and explored Templin Gardens. Carved into the limestone banks of the Gorge, steps are leading down to the river.

We discovered Wilson Dam while walking through Confederation Park. The park itself is small and, honestly, not that appealing from the street. But, it's quite pretty once you enter the cedar woods & worth the walk to see the dam from river level.

We crossed the river @ Scotland St and walked back along St. Andrew St. E., taking us to Fergies Fine Foods. Our 1st stop on the Wellington Butter Tart Tour.

We had the raisin and maple bacon tarts. Weirdly, Jeff liked the raisin one better.

We then drove to a la mode Cafe & Ice Cream Shop in Drayton. (25-30 min drive)

They only had coconut butter tarts left, so; we got one of those and ice cream.

Wanting to walk off the treats, we discovered the Drayton Walking Trail, another trail along the Grand River.

Next, we headed to the West Montrose Covered Bridge. It's the last covered bridge in Ontario💞 We wanted to visit it because it was our anniversary and it's also known as The Kissing Bridge. 💋

Good to know -> you can't park near the bridge, but there is a small parking area @ Letson Park 2 min walk (see the last pic for location)

Fun Fact: was filmed for a scene in the movie IT 🤡

Our last stop on the Wellington Butter Tart Trail was at the Mosborough Country Market. We picked up a 6 pk of raisin butter tarts (the best of this trip) and brought home fresh Ontario corn, peaches. 🍑🌽 We also bought a few bags of Pickard's Extreme Style Kettle Chips)! They were AMAZING! * the last pic was taken along a backroad somewhere in Milton 🎃

Future Trip ideas -> Elora Quarry - we didn't have time to go here, but we did stop to take a look. Can't wait to do this next summer!

Good to know -> Tickets need to be reserved in advance

We hope this inspires you to go out and explore.

Until next time, Diana & Jeffy #adventureswithDianaandJeff
