Cliffs, Cider & Ice Cream

For our 1st Adventure, join us on our Saturday hike at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, lunch and drinks at Spirit Tree Estate Cidery and dessert (my fav - ice cream) at Higher Ground Cafe in Belfountain

Mono Cliffs Provincial Park

We did the Carriage Trail to Walter Tovell to Cliff Top Side Trail & back -> 5.21km

Next time we'll explore the South Outlier Trail ...

Lots of shade on the trail & not too busy. We didn't find the lookout to be that exciting (bottom left), but the rest of the walk was very pretty ...

Good things to know:

Drive time: approx 1 hour from Toronto Difficulty: elevation and stairs, but trail was well maintained and lots of signs. We only went the wrong way once and that was because I didn't listen to Jeff ... sigh

NEW starting June 7, 2021: get your daily vehicle permit in advance to guarantee your day use spot at this park (weekends). Pass is checked at parking entrance.

4 hour time window = $7.50 total If you can go during the week: free weekday daily vehicle permits from May 1 to September 2, for all provincial parks Mondays through Thursdays

Strongly suggest you don't use the washrooms (parking lot) unless you REALLY have too! I've used outhouses and was worse :(

Spirit Tree Estate Cidery

NOTE: ADVANCED RESERVATIONS REQUIRED for the Patio

We didn't reserve in advance, but were able to order from the same menu and sit at their picnic tables.

We shared their Smash Burger and Cubano, both on exceptional GF Buns with side salad and amazing petite frites!! Accompanied by their Apple Lager and Pear & Lavender Ciders!!

Chef Jeff Rating: Smash Burger: 7/10 the patty was a little overlooked for our liking Cubano: 9/10 the house-made apple mustard was AMAZING Diana's fav thing: loved the petite frites

They also offer pizza inside along with freshly baked bread, pies and baked goods, ciders and an assortment of locally sourced food products in the Farm Shop.

Higher Ground Cafe Belfountain

A sweet ending to our day ... They have great coffee, but we were looking for a treat after our hike - my FAV -> ice cream! (Central Smith Ice Cream)

There were very few motorcycles and cars, which was WEIRD for a Sat afternoon.

For Next time: On the way to Mono Cliffs, we discovered a new lavender farm: Avalon Lavender Farm Open: Fri, Sat, Sun: 10-6PM 'Take a sneak-peek stroll to see the baby lavender plants growing. Our field doesn’t “OFFICIALLY” open until next year, but our Barn Boutique has lovely lavender things to tide you over until then.' They also have night markets and yoga in the field.
