Chasing Waterfalls & Ice Cream in Ancaster

With days of rain ahead in the forecast, we decided to take advantage of the sunny Saturday and explore waterfalls in Ancaster, just outside Hamilton. We visited Sherman Falls, Tiffany Falls, Ancaster Mill and finished the afternoon with an ice cream treat.

As long as you were patient on the bridges and viewing platforms, it was easy to physically distance. We only passed a handful of people on the Bruce Trail.

Sherman Falls is a 17 metre-high curtain waterfall that surges from Ancaster Creek. It's easily accessible with nearby parking. The Falls is on private property, so please be respectful of the area.

Tiffany Falls is a 20 min hike from here along the Bruce Trail or there is nearby parking. This 21-metre tall cascade waterfall is stunning in the spring when it’s roaring from the spring melt. It did not disappoint us on this lovely fall day.

Bruce Trail -> Sherman Falls to Tiffany Falls

The trail was well maintained except for 1 spot where there were several downed trees. These were easy to climb over. The beginning of the trail (closer to Sherman Falls) was the prettiest. It became a bit overgrown further along. The trail is well signed and not heavily travelled. It's a 20-25 min hike, depending on how many pics you stop to take along the way 😉

Fall is a great time to discover all types of mushrooms - here's a few that we saw...

Good things to know:

- There is parking at both Falls for $11 (limited to 1-hour max) - a short walk to the falls from either lot

Ancaster Mill has been on my list of places to see for a long time. I wanted to see it even more after watching the proposal scene in Good Witch. And, it did not disappoint. They have special Holiday Menus and an amazing brunch.

Ancaster Ice Cream Parlour Those of you who know us, we always have a treat after a hike, usually ice cream. Don't let the location put you off (little league park). The HUGE selection (120 flavours!) of ice cream flavours is worth it! They had flavours from FOUR different companies; London Ice Cream Company, Shaw's, Central Dairy and Hewitt's. YUM!

We hope this inspires you to go out and explore!

Until next time, Diana & Jeffy
